With once vibrant and luscious forests now cut down to bare and sparse states, many organizations are trying to restore forests to their former selves through tree planting projects. By planting trees, you are not only helping to repopulate the plant life of the forests, but also the animal life as well. Many species of animals make their homes in forests, thus if we were to lose our forests we would also lose many species of animals. So how does forest repopulation work?
Many things are responsible for the degradation for forests. Things like lumber companies, wildfires, and natural disasters can completely destroy an forest’s ecosystem. After an area is designated as being in need of restoration, one of the many organizations who specialize in forest repopulation will make the area a target of one of their projects. Through donations, these organizations can raise enough money to fund the project’s cost, and with the help of volunteers the organizations are able to put their plans into action. The volunteers go to the damaged area and plant new trees which they hope will restore the destroyed area to its once thriving self. Although the transformation won’t take place over night, in time the forest will make a full recovery.
